Warnemunde, Germany

Warnemunde, Germany was our port stop. We rented a car and drove to 2 interesting cities. First one was Lubeck, seen above.
Holsten Gate is the entry to the old fortified city. The salt warehouses are on the left side, along the river.

The pictures above were taken from the steeple of St.Marien in Lubeck. The churches and most building in this city were made of brick !

Then we drove down to Schwerian, a lake side city. Palace Schwerian, started in 1160, has undergone many changes.  Restoration is on going...  A fabulous structure, with a variety of building styles. Several rooms were filled with antique Meissen China. The Throne Room .... pretty awesome !

This court yard in back of the castle, next to the lake, was a beautiful setting. Leaving this place, we drove back up to Rostock. You can bet that Jim enjoyed this "road" trip...driving at 80,  then passed by cars doing 90-100. He loved driving the autobahn. And I enjoyed the country  roads + the cute, charming towns where he had to slow down a bit.
