Our Family Castle

                  Several years ago my Family Search revealed a " Family Castle"

   The Lyon Family came to  Glamis in the 14th century.  When Sir John Lyon married Joanna, the daughter of King Robert II, he was granted a bldg. + grounds. The Lyon   Family joined with Jim's family with the marriage of Orril Lyon to Calvin Brown in 1802 @ Brimfield, Mass

               

             The original bldg. was a Royal Hunting Lodge which has evolved over the centuries.

We drove up north from Glasgow  to see the Glamis Castle.  
A lovely setting + well maintained grounds. We were able to tour many of the interior rooms and hear family history stories.

 Glamis has continued to own over 140,000 acres, which includes the 

charming village of Glamis w/ church, school and also a National Trust museum.

 Soooo interesting to see personal items /photos of Her Majesty.

Lovely day and ...a memorable experience.
