Charlottetown, P. E. Island

Prince Edward Island was sighted, then explored in 1534. Island is British and so friendly. A slower pace, bucolic mix of woodlands, fields, rolling hills, + sandy red dunes.      At this time of year it  is really colorful !

Drove about the island....
right by the site of Anne of .......
The farm with a huge parking lot beside it, is a real tourist draw !!
Then on to Rustico a village along the seashore...
supposedly, this was the first real home on the island,  built in 1772.
Rustico Bank ~ 1864
Their church built 1838.
We drove along their Nat'l Park coast area...
The soil on this island is reddish....and this is pix of their red bluffs in Nat'l  Park
Cormorants by the dozen
And many fox along the roadway...just waiting for a hand out
Since this is a vacation "get away" island...there are so many accommodations for rent.  Many of them similar to these charming cottages ( each one trimmed in a diff. color)
.....and similar to this lodge.
We drove back to "walka'bout" the historic area of Charlottetown.
Really a lovely city.

~ Farewell... to this wonderful island ! ~
